December in England and Wales
December carries two bank holidays in England and Wales: Christmas Day and Boxing Day. When either falls on a weekend, a substitute weekday is given instead, which is why the marked date can move to the following Monday or Tuesday. Schools break up a few days before Christmas, and many workplaces close until the New Year.
